PHILOSOPHY

Firstly, this is not about becoming muscularly HUGE.

I believe it is fundamental to be athletically fit and toned.

My fitness programme is realistic, tailored to your goal and sustainable

Personal Training is exactly what it says - Personal. INDIVIDUAL. Tailored to your requirements and goals. I won't instruct you to do anything that you are not comfortable with or that has a negative impact on your perception of physical exercise.

I advocate perfect technique when lifting weights or when commiting to any purposeful physical movement. This is the basis of all my training sessions. There is ample clinical evidence out there to prove the positive benefits of strength training but the maximum benefit will only be realised with proper form.

Only through this attention to technique can we achieve targeted fast results. Hard work - BUT WORTH IT .

Practising perfect technique is also the only way to avoid injury.

Stabilising muscles inside areas like the shoulder girdle, pelvis and spine, play a major role in the correct function of the larger muscle groups (the ones that use the largest amounts of calorific energy) and are essential for correct postural alignment.

We need to focus on strengthening these stabilisers before we even think of progressing toward our goal.

LADIES, PLEASEdo not be under any illusion about lifting weights. This does not result in hugely oversized muscles....

What you will get is toned, springy...LEAN muscle tissue. You will also get definition between muscle groups and improved body symmetry and proportion.

The more muscles you bring out of hibernation, the more contribution to the speed of your muscular metabolism (burning fat quicker & more efficiently) they make - without you realising it.

CARDIOVASCULAR EXERCISE

Every session will have a cardiovascular element (in addition to the warm up) in order to strengthen the heart, circulation, lung function and for overall fitness.

Examples of cardiovascular activities:

* swimming (sees note on swimming)
* brisk walking (outside or treadmill)
* jogging (outside or treadmill)
* cycling (outside or exercise bike)
* cross trainer
* rowing (machine only - I have no boat)
* stair climber

This is a separate note for those serious about making a start in bodybuilding or want to make substantial objective progress in your existing training. I will train alongside you and create progressive training programmes to meet your personal goals with sports nutrition guidance available on request.


FOR THOSE WHO SIMPLY WANT TO VASTLY IMPROVE THE WAY THEY LOOK AND FEEL - READ ON.....

This fitness programme WILL require some effort from you. You will also need committment

* Weights ARE heavy and I DO require you to use them.

* You WILL get out of breath in our sessions.

When the 12 week programme has ended - you will find it VERY difficult to slip back into the familiar habits that have enabled your fitness to deteriorate.
